LED Light Therapy Treatments

LED is a painless skin-care treatment that plumps up aging skin by boosting collagen production, and treats mild to moderate acne by killing the bacteria responsible for breakouts. LED treatments are sometimes also called LED light therapy, LED red light, LED blue light, or by the name of the manufacturer.

LED stands for light-emitting-diodes. First developed by NASA, LED works by sending energy-producing packets of light into the deeper layers of the skin. Red light LED stimulates the fibroblasts that produce collagen, which gives young skin its plump look. Professional LED machines can also minimize fine lines and wrinkles, treat acne and rosacea, treat sun-damage skin and stretch marks, and reduce redness and inflammation after more aggressive treatments such as skin needling.   Blue light LED works by killing p.acnes bacterium that lives below the surface of the skin and is responsible for acne.

How does LED light therapy assist in the reduction of acne?

Using our specific light treatment, the area of affected skin is exposed to Blue light (417nm), which is quickly absorbed by acne-causing bacteria. Molecules within the bacteria then react by producing singlet oxygen and free radicals that in-turn destroy the P. Acnes bacterium. Once the body has been exposed to Blue light, the use of Red light therapy helps to restore normal cellular function and promotes healthy skin rejuvenation.

Red light therapy stimulates the skin and promotes the production of the energy source for cells known as adenosine triphosphate (ATP). By increasing ATP, the production of elastin and collagen also increases and normal cellular function can be restored. There is an increase in circulation and reduction of inflammation within the skin. When Blue light therapy and Red light therapy are used in conjunction with each other; they are much more effective at targeting inflammatory acne.

LED Red Light Therapy for skin rejuvenation

In recent years, the trend toward non-surgical procedures to rejuvenate the skin has increased rapidly as clients look for safe, effective alternatives with no downtime. With so many non-surgical treatments available, it can be hard to know which one is the best for you. Light Therapy remains one of the hottest non-ablative, non-invasive, and painless skin care therapies available to date. What makes this system so special is that we can now rejuvenate the skin on a cellular level.

Our Medical LED light therapy emits a Red Light (630nm) which is a wavelength that is absorbed by cells called fibroblasts in our skin. These fibroblasts produce collagen and elastin, and when stimulated by Red Light, will do so at spectacularly accelerated rates reducing the appearance of aging. This wavelength will also stimulate the cells that produce hylauronic acid in our skin. Hylauronic acid maintains moisture in our skin and gives our skin a more hydrated, and plumper appearance. This treatment can therefore also assist conditions such as rosacea, inflamed or irritated skin conditions.

Light Therapy is also used to enhance other therapies such as microdermabrasion or peels and enhance the effects of botox and fillers. It is an excellent natural skin rejuvenation alternative that is both effective and a pleasurable experience.

How many treatments are required?

Treatments required will depend on the individual and what concerns are being treated, however we would usually recommend a course of 6-10 treatments at weekly intervals.  LED treatments can be stand alone treatments or can be combined with other treatments for increased results.

What does it feel like?

LED treatments are pain free, relaxing treatments which require you to lie under the blue or red light for either 10 or 20 minutes.  You may feel a slight warmth or tingling sensation to the skin both during and sometimes after the treatment.

Medical Peels

Medical Peels
Chemical Peels are Keryolitic agents, they are able to breakdown proteins within the skin causing them to die off. The result is removal of damaged or abnormal cells and the replacement of healthier ones.
